Keep Florida Beautiful Joins State Leaders in Arkansas for Collaboration and Learning

In July, Keep Florida Beautiful had the opportunity to join Keep America Beautiful state directors from across the country in Little Rock, Arkansas, for three days of collaboration, learning, and sharing ideas. Hosted by Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Executive Director Mackenzie McMath-Cornell, the gathering highlighted the power of partnerships and innovation within the Keep America Beautiful network.

A Warm Welcome and New Connections

The conference began at the historic Old State House Museum, where we gathered each day for sessions and discussions. Jenny Lawson, President of Keep America Beautiful, opened with a warm welcome that set the tone for our time together. Throughout the day, we met leaders from across the country, including representatives from Keep Colorado Beautiful and Keep Nevada Beautiful. The evening wrapped up with hors d’oeuvres and conversations at a local restaurant, where directors shared the exciting projects happening in their own states.

Learning from Arkansas Partnerships

The second day was filled with inspiration and learning. We heard from Ace Glass and Epic Glass Recycling about their efforts to build affiliate-level relationships with glass companies, advancing Arkansas’ recycling initiatives in meaningful ways.

We then traveled to Pinnacle Mountain State Park, where Arkansas State Parks leadership shared how they coordinate biannual cleanups, integrate student service-learning hours, and strengthen partnerships across the state. A park ranger also guided us through an interpretation of the park, giving us a deeper appreciation for Arkansas’ natural beauty.

Celebrating Collaboration

That evening, we attended a reception at Tratnell Hall, generously sponsored by the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office. The event brought together Keep Arkansas Beautiful commissioners, state partners, and community leaders. It was a powerful example of how affiliates can work hand in hand with local and state governments to build stronger communities.

Moving Forward Together

The three days in Arkansas reminded us of the strength of the Keep America Beautiful network. By coming together, sharing successes, and learning from one another, we can continue to expand the impact of our programs and partnerships across the country.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the sponsors who made this amazing conference possible, including the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, Keep Arkansas Beautiful, Arkansas State Parks, Keep America Beautiful, Garbo Grabber, and all of the other generous sponsors and partners who supported this gathering. Your commitment to collaboration and community makes our work possible—and we are thankful for your investment in keeping our communities beautiful.
