Red, White, Blue… and Recycling

Red, white and blue will be prominent this holiday weekend as we get ready for the July 4th holiday. Many of us will proudly celebrate our country’s independence. That celebration will take families to backyard cookouts, picnics in the park and fun at the beach. Here’s a little tip for how to handle that “after the fireworks debris”, such as beverage bottles, aluminum cans, plastic water bottles and even those empty sunscreen bottles! Recycle!

Let’s not make the day after the fourth be what some call “the dirtiest day of the year.” Please remember the three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle. Save the environment. Save energy. Prevent pollution. Let’s “Drive it Home” and keep our paradise litter-free.

Bring garbage bags and recycling bins to your July 4th activities. Please take a moment to collect recyclables, toss that trash and clean up the mess. Research shows 85 percent of litter behavior is the result of attitudes. Let’s make a change. Showcase that patriotic spirit. Wave the red, white and blue and recycle!
